Best Supporting Actor BAFTA Nomination For Anupam Kher’s Performance in The Boy With The Topknot

The beloved and supremely talented Anupam Kher has been nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actor for BAFTA awards for his performance in the BBC show The Boy With The Top Knot. The veteran actor known for his varied and soulful performances across many Bollywood and international movies has been nominated alongside Adrian Dunbar for Line of Duty, Brian F. O’Byrne for Little Boy Blue and Jimmi Simpson for Black Mirror.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is an independent charity and holds the awards yearly and the ceremony will be held at the Royal Festival Hall on May 13 this year. Anupam Kher has portrayed his character in this adaptation of Satnam Sanghera’s memoir which is called The Boy in the Topknot. Sacha Dhawan portrays Sathnam, Deepti Naval portrays Sathnam’s mother and Anupam Kher plays his father.
This is not the first time that Anupam Kher has performed in critically and well acclaimed international shows and movies like Bend It Like Beckham, Silver Linings Playbook, The Big Sick, Sense8 etc.
He was born in Shimla and started his career with the 1982 Hindi movie Aagman and has gone on to do more than 500 films across various genres. He is currently the Chairman of the Film and Television Institue of India which is an institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
