Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday interacted with the people of Mainpuri, considered to be the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party to get their feedback on various government policies and listen to their grievances.

During an interaction held under ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ campaign, the CM lauded the central government’s ambitious ‘housing for all’ scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awash Yojna  stating that around 577 beneficiaries from Mainpuri alone were provided houses.

He also attacked the erstwhile Akhilesh yadav-led government in the state, saying that they had built only 500 houses during their five-year tenure. He praised the Centre’s mission to provide electricity in villages across the country, claiming that his government has provided power connections to 1051 hamlets in the state. Only 525 villages were electrified during the previous government’s regime, he added.

Gram Swaraj Abhiyan campaign was launched in May, 2018, to promote social harmony and spread awareness about the pro-poor initiatives of the government. The idea is to reach out to poor households and enroll them on various welfare programmes.
